Today I made this geographic coordinate artwork to display in the family room. I used Pic Monkey to create the background from a satellite image of the United States and several of the available Textures. Then I added the latitude and longitude coordinates of our home and our address.
If you would like to use my background image for your own artwork, it can be downloaded from Google Docs at the links below. It will print as an 8 x 10 and is available in .jpg and .png formats. This image is for personal use only.
To find the geographic coordinates of your home, simply enter your address into the reverse geocoding Google Map. This website displays the coordinates in decimal format. If you wish to convert to degree/minute/second format, you can do so at this website.

ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to do this for a while now. I tried to use the links provided but the geocoder gave me the same coordinates for Seattle Washington as it did for Richmond Virginia. I must not being doing something right.
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing this out. Google must be having technical difficulties because it was working when I made my artwork. www.geonames.org will give you the coordinates for a city and state if you want to try that. Hopefully google fixes this soon or I will have to change my post.
DeleteTry this one, it will give the coordinates of an address:
