Recently I found two wooden flour and sugar canisters at the thrift store. They were very beat up and had a slight funky odor, but at 25 cents a piece I couldn't pass them up. I brought them home and gave them a serious scrubbing and sanding.
Following a coat of dark walnut stain, I got to work embellishing them with twine. I used three kinds: cotton, sisal, and jute. I love the contrasting textures of the twines. On the larger canister, I wrapped the three twines around the bottom in a progressively lighter pattern for an ombre effect.
On the smaller canister, I used a concentric circle design.
I attached unfinished wooden ball knobs and wrapped them in jute twine.
I plan to set these canisters on a shelf in my home office. I think they are perfect for hiding the hodgepodge of office supplies that clutter my desk!
I love how those turned out! So creative!! Would love for you to share at the Pomp Party!
