The girls were bored yesterday afternoon, so I pulled out a stack of coffee filters and tempera paints, and let them play. We usually make flowers or cut snowflakes out of painted coffee filters. Instead I decided to use their colorful creations to make a last minute New Year's Eve bunting.
I diluted the tempera paint about 1:1 with water. To speed drying, I put the filters on a sheet of aluminum foil in a warm oven. To make the bunting, I folded each coffee filter in half and cut fringe along the curved edge with scissors. Then I sandwiched a length of button thread in the fold and glued the two halves of the coffee filter around it.
Wishing you and your family a joyous 2013! Happy New Year!
